MES team Members

I read a blog that is a particularly good summary of the reality of MES/MOM implementations. The team is vital and needs to cover a variety of skills. Defining what you want to get out of your team is important, but this is usually a journey of discovery. You don’t know where the cost savings are going to be until you analyse the data. If you do, implement the cost savings first. Many promises have been made in the past relating to Return on Investment (ROI) that have not been realised; this has created a lot of caution.

Diverse team members are essential, and it cannot be from only one section of the company, such as administration.

The four most important are:
1) Someone who understands the production data sources
2) Someone who understands the business data sources
3) Someone who understands the business operations and needs
4) Someone able to make company-wide decisions.

You can read the blog at Lnsresearch.

For the team to implement a successful MES Project, they need to:

    • Be collaborative and respect all members
    • Be committed to the project/concept
    • Be honest and open, admit when they do not know and then source someone who does
    • Listen and deeply understand each other needs/issues
    • Seek the overall business good, not just personal interest and expertise
    • Understand the real needs
    • Be accountable
    • Enable cooperative relationships
    • Set clear goals but still have the ability to dream and think outside of the box
    • Realise that no one is an expert but seek outside expertise where needed
    • Understand the data source and eliminate bad or misleading data
    • Avoid making assumptions about areas they don’t know: Ask questions

Mescon is here to help you do what you do better. We have found that the earlier we are involved in the process, the more successful the project is. Talk to us soon, or visit us at www.mescon.com.au
